Kampala Metropolitan Police, spokesperson Patrick Onyango, said Besigye was told to use Yusuf Lule and Mukwano Roads to proceed for prayers at Najjanankumbi, the party villas.

Police has said that Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leader Dr. Kiiza Besigye has been arrested for defying police orders.

Kampala Metropolitan Police, spokesperson Patrick Onyango, said Besigye was told to use Yusuf Lule and Mukwano Roads to proceed for prayers at Najjanankumbi, the party villas.

According to Onyango said Besigye insisted on using routes in the city centre despite the advice from the officers deployed at Mulago round about.

Onyango said the former presidential candidate was moving with a procession without police notice which contradicts with the public order management Act.

Besigye has been charged with participating in unlawful procession on a file case number S933/5/4/2016.
