Cholera hits Butaleja, kills 6, 92 admitted

Butaleja District Health Officer Dr. John Matovu revealed that they registered the first cholera case on Easter Monday

Six people have been confirmed dead and over 92 others admitted at Nabiganda health Centre IV following a cholera outbreak in Butaleja district.

District Health officials told New Vision that cholera cases are on the rise, adding that 92 people are now admitted at Nabiganda Health Centre IV.

Butaleja District Health Officer Dr. John Matovu revealed that they registered the first cholera case on Easter Monday in Nabiganda trading Centre in Kachonga sub-county.

"Members of the public are informed that Butaleja is now among districts that have been hit by a cholera outbreak. In the beginning we recorded 25 cases and now we 92 people admitted with 6 deaths registered," Matovu said.

He said that an isolation Centre has been opened at Nabiganda Health Centre IV to handle the cholera cases.
