Police in Kabale district are investigating circumstances under which a stranger reportedly asked a woman for directions to a nearby church and then killed her.
The body of Mauda Bakundente, 60, was found in a garden, some 200 meters away from the church Sunday morning.
Her killer, who police are hunting, reportedly was going for prayers at Runoni Church but did not know its location.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, says the deceased left her husband and two grandchildren at home sleeping at around 9pm local time on Saturday to help the stranger.
But the following morning - Easter Sunday - she was found lifeless, and her head chopped off.
The motive of the act is not known yet. The incident happened in Rwingongo cell, Kyabuhangwa parish, located in Kamwezi sub-county.
