Politics should not divide us, says Luwalira

Namirembe Diocese Bishop Wilberforce Kityo Luwalira has advised Ugandans not to allow politics divide them.

Luwalira was particularly concerned about the election season aftermath events.

In his sermon to the congregation that turned up for the Easter Service at St. Paul Cathedral Namirembe, Luwalira wondered why neighbours should not greet each other because they are in different political camps.

"You all know the period we are coming through which has left many people with no hope.   We are scared of greeting each other because we have different ideas in politics and we do not know what our neighbours think about us. We should be beyond these issues and chose to tell our neighbours that peace be with you and we forge a way forward," said   Luwalira.

He said that having peace does not mean that all is well in our lives but it shows that we still have hope.

"We are too corrupt; we have so much hatred but let us start preaching the gospel of peace with Jesus' resurrections. As Christians, let us be exemplary."

"We should always endeavour to speak the truth, be incorruptible and be kind to others," said Luwalira.

He appealed to the church to pray for peace most especially in the Rwenzori region where lives have been lost due to tribal clashes.

Among those who attended the service were former Chief Justice Wako Wambuzi, former Prime Minister Apollo and wife Esther Nsibambi, Buganda Lukiiko speaker Nelson Kawalya among others.

Meanwhile, the church will hold a memorial service for former choir master Mick=hale Mubiru, who passed on last year in an accident.
