As he improved, the rest instead continued to struggle with Edwin Okwong (88), Morris Asaba (89) and Herman Mutebi (89) still failing to find a formula of conquering the El Kantaoui Golf Course in Sousse.

"Joel was 4 over (76gross) up to hole No.17 which he bogeyed and double bogeyed the 18," team leader Oscar Semawere said of Basalaine's round.

Uganda who were 7th after round two consequently slipped to 8th position out of 9 participating countries.

South Africa's Herman Loubser and Marco Steyn who returned the best individual gross scores (71 each) in the second round  together with Dylan Mostert and Dylan Naidoo were still firing well to give the 18-time champions, South African team a comfortable lead going into the last round of the four-day championship.
