Hailstorms ravage villages in Bushenyi

Leaders promise to register all the affected people and forward the names to the Prime Minister's office for aid

Rubirizi - At least seven pupils at Kyabakara Primary School in Kyabakara Sub County Katerera in Rubirizi district have been rushed to Lugazi health center 4 after one of the classroom block collapsed on them.

The greater Bushenyi region police spokesperson Marshal Tumusiime says the pupils were attending classes when the building gave way during a hailstorm.

The Rubirizi district chairman David Kisembo says the injuries sustained by the pupils are minor and urges parents to remain calm.

The rains also destroyed food crops and several houses.

In Sheema district, a hailstorm also ravaged the villages in Kashozi, Sheema town council and Kabwohe Itendero town yesterday afaternoon.

George Tumwebaze, the mayor Kabwohe/Itendero town council says several buildings and food crops were destroyed by the storms. The Sheema district chairman, Pastori Mugisha who visited some of the victims said that they will register all the affected people and forward the names to the Prime Minister's office for aid.
