The board chairman ordered the closure of the school and requested the police to guard the school until the situation normalizes

Okapel High School has been closed indefinitely following an early morning strike by students who are protesting against their head master Alphos Alumu.

The angry students on Monday morning stormed the headmaster's office demanding that he vacates the school on claims that they are not taught and that he has failed to manage the school.

The incident led the headmaster calling Kapir Police Station to intervene but the students overpowered them forcing the OC to call for reinforcement from the Central Police Station.

The DPC Ngora Esau Atorom Opio rushed to the scene and found children carrying clubs and pelting stones at police in Kapir which forced him to order police fire live bullets.

Students scattered to different directions others locked themselves to the latrines.

Vigilio Okurut the board chairman ordered the closure of the school and requested the police to guard the school until the situation normalizes.

The students who were early on arrested were released according to the DPC Opio while the head teacher was whisked away by police as his life was in danger.

The DPC Opio explained that nobody was injured as they fired live bullets.

The LC3 Kapir Bonny Opio spent a better part of his time talking to parents who expressed anger over the manner police fired live bullets for dispersing their children.
