ASSISTANT BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

VACANCY: ASSISTANT BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER AGENCY

REPORTING TO: BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Britam is a leading diversified financial services group, listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. The group has interests across the East African region and offers a wide range of financial products and services in Insurance, Asset Management, Banking and Property. The product range includes,life, health and general insurance, pensions, unit trusts, investment planning, wealth management, off-shore investments, retirement planning, discretionary portfolio management, property development and private equity. We wish to fill the above position in our Uganda subsidiary - Britam Insurance Company (Uganda) Ltd.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the Financial Advisors meet their set monthly targets;
  • Appraising performance of Financial Advisors and the Units on a weekly basis.
  • Supervising and motivating of the agency force and other set up distribution channels.
  • Overseeing the recruitment & deployment of the financial advisors.
  • Setting up and Training of new distribution networks to meet the minimum Company performance standards.
  • In liaison with the Business Development Manager (BDM) ensure that all Financial Advisors and Units are regularly and properly trained to achieve Company objectives.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required

1. Bachelor of Commerce degree or equivalent;

2. Good advancement in CII Credits;

3. Minimum 5 years' experience with bias in General Insurance Underwriting of which 2 should, be at Managerial level with an element of Business Development as well.

Competencies

1. Knowledge of insurance concepts

2. Knowledge general insurance processes and procedures

3. Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements

4. Demonstrated proficiency in computer/software packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint etc.
