Museveni addresses newly-elected NRM MPs

President Museveni addresses the NRM MPs at a retreat in Kyankwanzi.

President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday addressed newly-elected NRM MPs attending the orientation retreat at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi.

Some 301 newly-elected NRM MPs are gathered at Kyankwanzi for a one-week retreat and will be equipped with the political dimension before the 10th parliament begins in May.

President Museveni opened the retreat.

During the week-long retreat, the NRM legislators will be gounded in ideology, legislative practice and the principles of political pluralism.

  • Overview of the comparative performance of NRM in 2016 elections
  • Role of patriotism in building Uganda today
  • The political economy of Uganda
  • On Tuesday, President Museveni will lecture NRM MPs on understanding geopolitics, regional integration and national interests.
  • Deputy leader of government business, Gen. Moses Ali, will also lecture MPs on managing their constituencies, serving throuhg different governments and how to be loyal to voters or people.
  • Vision Group CEO Robert Kabushenga and Uganda Media Centre director Ofwono Opondo will on Friday lecture MPs on how to handle the media and communications.
