NRM sweeps Nwoya in LC elections

NRM Party candidates swept 5 out of the 8 sub counties LC3 chairperson in Nwoya district

NWOYA - NRM Party candidates swept 5 out of the 8 sub counties LC3 chairperson in Nwoya district.

Jessica Adong Ocen ,the Nwoya district Electoral Commission Registrar while declaring the LC3 chairpersons and LC3 Councilors yesterday from the district council hall noted that the elections was free and fairs although there were some few irregularities cases in Koch Lii ,Purongo and Got Apwoyo sub counties.

Adong declared Okeny Paul [NRM] as the winner for Alero sub county LC3 chairperson after polling 724 votes against Aaron Samuel [DP] with 487 votes, Okwonga Galdino [FDC] with 125 votes and Otto George Nai [Independent] with 640 votes.

In Anaka sub county LC3 chairperson was also taken up by Opobo Geoffrey [NRM] after he polled 371 votes against incumbent Odong Christopher [Independent] with 247 votes, Kakanyero Morris Opiyo [DP] with 338 votes, Onen Quintin [UPC] with 52 votes and Oringa Alfred Kelly [Independent] with 222 votes.

In Koch Goma sub county, incumbent John Bosco Okullu [DP] retained his seat after polling 1,255 votes against Adyera James Odong [Independent] with 789 votes and Opiyo Geoffrey Obama [NRM] with only 196 votes.

In Purongo sub county ,Okot John Ben Lutinga [Independent] was declared winner after polling 823 votes against incumbent Lakony Francis Okumu [Independent] with only 466 votes, Ojok Francis [Independent] with 278 votes and Okony Simon Opira [NRM] with 818 votes.

In Anaka Town Council, Okema Denis [Independent] emerged champion after polling 853 votes against incumbent Oryem Simon Peter [NRM] with 720 votes and Ojara Patrick Bitek [Independent] with 305 votes.

In Lungulu Sub County, Atube Denis [NRM] emerged champion fater polling 877 votes against Lakwonyero Simon [DP] with 63 votes, Ocitti Francis Labongoyer [Independent] with 35 votes, Olwoch Geoffrey Adokorach [Independent] with 89 votes, Oyat David Abang [Independent] with 75 votes, Otto Coxson [Independent] with 293 votes and Oyoo Peter [FDC] with 311 votes.

In Koch Lii Sub County, Ongoma Simon Akwing [NRM] was declared winner after polling 565 votes, Ayoo Charles Eddy [Independent] with 274 votes, Komakech Walter [DP] with 410 votes, Ongaya Francis Uma [FDC] with 234 votes and Owat Samuel [Independent] with 102 votes.

In Got Apwoyo sub county ,Openy Ben Latim [NRM] emerged champion after polling 451 votes against Odiya Andrew Labol [UPC] with 144 votes and Ojok Nelson Kalamoi [Independent] with 431 votes.

Nwoya district Registrar Jessica Adong Ocen noted that five of her supervisors and polling Assistant that were cited in votes rigging in Koch Lii, Purongo and Got Apwoyo sub county have been arrested and handed over to police for investigations but their acts did not affects the elections results from the polling stations they were deployed.
