1. POSITION:

MONITORING, LEARNING & EVALUATION OFFICER

Africa Innovations Institute (AfrII) has received funding from the Federal University of Agriculture. Abeokuta, Nigeria (FUNAAB).

The Institute now wishes to apply a part of the proceeds of these funds for the recruitment of Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation Officer and Information and Communications Officer for the project: Cassava: Adding Value for Africa Phase 2 (CAVA II). Terms of Reference for MLE Specialist The Monitoring, Learning & Evaluation (MLE) Officer shall be a staff of Africa Innovations Institute (AfrII). Reporting to the Country Manager (CM) on a daily basis.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Develop or adapt MLE tools and frameworks for monitoring and evaluating CAVA II activities and ensure compliance.

• Working with the CM, prepare annual, quarterly and monthly work plans, budgets and reports for CAVA II and related projects.

• Tracking, measuring and monitoring progress in Uganda towards meeting CAVA II and other project's activities, outputs,

outcomes and key milestones during and at the end of the project period.

• Designing and assisting in the implementation and analysis of MLE and impact studies in Uganda to collect data on key indicators.

• Identify, document and share successes, risks, threats, challenges, and opportunities in the course of project implementation.

Location: Zonal Office.

Level of input: Full time.

Qualifications and experience:

The ideal candidate should be a holder of MSc in Agricultural Economics or equivalent. In addition to academic qualifications,

the person should have an in depth experience in monitoring and evaluation of donor projects.

Technical skills and core capabilities:

• At least 5 years proven experience in Development Projects in monitoring and evaluation,

• Strong experience in the development and review of log frames, understanding of quality and impact agenda; participation in baseline and evaluation studies as well as competence in statistical analyses.

• High level of verbal and written communication, negotiation, facilitation and training skills.

2. POSITION:

INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER

Responsible for the public relations aspect within an organization.

Builds and sustains a company's reputation for quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction. Writes and delivers press releases and

handles all communication sent to the public.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Organize, manage and share in the most efficient and effective way possible, knowledge and information from research outputs

of various programs of AfrII.

• Develop and effectively manage all AfrII website and database with a view of bringing to the attention of the national and

international community the works and impacts of AfrII.

• Coordinate and manage preparation, publication and disseminate periodic reports and the Institutes publications.

• Build capacity of staff of AfrII in terms of information, communication and public relations.

• Develop communication strategies for delivery of corporate culture

and business strategy.

• Develop strong relationships and manage media relations and maximize media opportunities.

Qualifications and experience:

The ideal candidate should be a holder of Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or similar field. The person should

also have experience of working with and supporting the private sector. At least 5 years proven experience in Development Projects; and a

high level of verbal and written communication, negotiation, facilitation and training skills.

Terms of engagement

The positions are 3-year contract commencing 1st April 2016 with an attractive salary renewable annually based on satisfactory

performance and availability of project funds.
