Vision Group, Africell seal sh600m promo deal

The promotion will see subscribers of Africell win up to sh200million across the country

Listeners of Vision Group's five radio stations will soon have another opportunity to win themselves cash on a daily basis.

This was after telecom giants Africell Uganda handed Vision Group, a cheque of sh647m to be handed out to Africell's over 1,000,000 subscribers in Uganda.  

Africell entered the Uganda telecommunications market in November 2014 after finalizing the acquisition of Orange Telecom's operations at $12m.

The announcement was made by Martin Kagoro, the Africell sponsorship and promotions manager while handing over cash to the lucky winners of the Valentine Day cash and win promotion. The event was held at Africell's main offices in Kampala on Friday.

"Over sh600m is up for grabs for Vision Group's radio audiences across the country, we believe in giving back to our communities, adding value to their lives especially if they use the money meaningfully," Kagolo said.

"The promotion is also meant to thank our customers for their continued support towards the consumption of our services. We are still in business because they believe in our services.  I therefore call upon listeners of Vision Group radios to actively participate in this game to win you lots of cash." he added.

Kagolo explained that the promotion will see subscribers of Africell win up to sh200million across the country.

The new promotion that will run on Vision Group radio stations across the country will have Africell customers winning cash on hourly basis in all regions of Uganda.

"Other than the cash, our customers will also have a chance to win other goodies including merchandise like airtime, data and phones," he added.

Vision Group runs multiple media platforms with five radio stations which include; Bukedde FM, based in Kampala, broadcast in Luganda, Radio West FM, based in Mbarara, Radio Rupiny FM based in Gulu broadcast in Luo, Etop radio FM, based in Soroti, broadcast in Ateso and Arua One FM.

How the promotion will work                                                                                                         

Bill Tibingana the head of radios at Vision Group said the promotion exercise will start on the 1st of March till the end of the year. The 'brain game' which involves a question and answer session will be running from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

"Our listeners from different parts of the country will be calling in. We ask them general questions on social life, current affairs, and questions about the particular station they are calling. If a person wins, he or she wins cash instantly of sh10,000 per question. But if the individual fails to correctly answer the question, we push it for the next hour, and the person that wins it gets sh20,000, the more the question is pushed to the next hour, the money also increases by sh10,000," said Tibingana.              

He applauded Africell for partnering with Vision Group saying "As Vision Group, we are honoured that your company chose to partner with us to reward your customers who are also our listeners. We promise to continue working with you for the betterment of our communities," said Tibingana.

 

Milad Khairallah the commercial director, Africell said the company is partnering with Vision Group since it has many platforms and can reach many of Africell's customers that have continuously supported it as a trusted brand, which fulfils whatever promises it makes to its customers.

Africell is still the only network in Uganda that gives free smart phones to customers who buy data moreover at the cheapest rate in the market.

This is the second time Africell is partnering with Vision Group radios to give back to its customers.

In February, Africell in partnership with Vision Group radios launched a Valentine's Day promotion dubbed "call and win" in which sh20,000,000 was up for grabs.

The promotion which had over 144 Africell customers win cash to the tune of sh20,000,000. The promotion had winners from all corners of the country win amounts from sh50,000 up to sh50,000.

On Friday, about twenty-two winners who bagged over sh500,000 from participating in the Valentine Day Cash and Win promotion were given their money at Africell main offices in Kampala.
