The court rejected his two sureties on ground that they were civilians who did not possess the influence to prevail upon him to attend court

The General Court Martial (GCM) has declined to release former coordinator of intelligence services Gen. David Sejusa on bail, saying there is risk of him interfering with investigations.

GCM chairman Maj. Gen Levi Karuhanga, delivered his ruling at the court that sat in the city suburb of Makindye. His trial starts on March 11th.

Sejusa is battling various offences of absence without leave, two offences of participating in political activities, insubordinate behaviour, and two counts of conduct prejudicial to good order, and discipline expected from an army officer.

The court also noted that there was a likelihood of Sejusa influencing prosecution witnesses of lower ranks, as he is of senior military rank.

The court also rejected his two sureties on ground that they were civilians who did not possess the influence to prevail upon him to attend court.
