Former foreign affairs minister Col. Tom Butime is set to bounce back as Member of Parliament for Mwenge Central in Kyenjojo district.

Butime is leading the race which had attracted four people. The others are Prospus Businge, Stephen Kananura and Kasukali Mitusera, all independent candidates.

Mwenge Central is new constituency that was split from Mwenge North. In 2011 Butime lost the then Mwenge North Constituency to David Muhumuza.

Meanwhile all NRM flag bearers in Kyenjojo district are leading in their respective constituencies.

Those leading include, Spellanza Baguma the flag bearer for Woman MP seat; Aston Kajara leading the Mwenge South MP seat, while David Muhumuza, the incumbent Mwenge North, is trailing Lawrence Akugizibwe of NRM.

Counting of votes is still ongoing at Kyenjojo district headquarters Kasina.

Barbra Mulimira, the Kyenjojo district returning, commended the people of Kyenjojo for being peaceful during the exercise.

President Museveni is also leading with a big margin. Final results for MP seats are expected to be released by end of today.
