The Kabarole district returning officer Valley Kanzira has said that all is set for Thursday's elections.

Kanzira told the New Vision at his office in Fort Portal that the district has already received and dispatched all the election materials to the sub counties.

"What remains now is the dispatch of the polling kit. Polls start and stop at 7:00AM and 4:00PM respectively." Kanzira said before calling upon voters to turn up early.

He explained that his office has put into consideration the issue of hard to reach areas in the district in regard to delivering the polling kits on time.

He urged voters to remain calm and peaceful as they exercise their right.

"We shall do the announcement of results obtained by each candidate at that particular polling station and on 19th Feb in the morning we shall declare winners in this election for parliamentary candidates at the district tally center" Kanzira said.

He stressed that "at the polling station we don't expect party symbols, colors, clothes, selling of alcohol or campaigning posters".

He also stated that the electorate is at freedom to either remain or stay away from the polling station after casting their vote but however warned against cases of violence for those that may choose to stay.

"A voter has right to come peacefully and cast his vote but if those who keep at the polling station try to intimidate the peaceful voters then he will be in problems" Kanzira stated.

He also said that one's right of secrecy while casting their vote must be respected.

"We don't want people to be near the secret place where one makes his choice because this is a secret ballot and somebody secrecy must be respected" he said adding that "What we are trying to protect is this person making his choice".
