Buganda gets library, archive centre

During the monthly inspections of the works at the Kabaka's lake last week, the Katikiiro Charles Peter Mayiga announced that the kingdom has opened a library and archive Centre.


The Kingdom of Buganda has opened a fully-fledged library and archive centre to improve on history preservation and enrich the culture.

 

During the monthly inspections of the works at the Kabaka's lake last week, the Katikiiro Charles Peter Mayiga announced that the kingdom has opened a library and archive Centre.

 

"In there, we keep all the kingdoms documents, history, clans' information and heritage. I call up every one with any document and information about the kingdom to bring it for preservation for the future generation," he said.

 

He also warned those who say that the tombs are satanic to stop displaying their ignorance.

 

"The tombs are the sign of treasure for the ancestors and you should know their value. They show our great grand fathers' creativity of having stayed in houses and now are tourist attraction," Katikiiro said.

 

Mayiga also stressed the Kabaka's speech delivered during the 21 coronation celebrations at Ssembabule, saying healthy and hardworking people are the pride of the kingdom.

 

 "I urge you especially the youth to use their age to work hard as the Kabaka stressed in his speech. The kingdom will develop and go to greater heights," he said.

 

He advised them 'to engage in income generating activities so as to fight poverty as they work to bring Buganda to the top.

 

The secretary for Buganda Twezimbe Gasta Ntake told the Kingdom loyalists that they have so far collected over sh3.19b for the Kasubi project.
