Ssebuguzi voted USPA's best for January

Ssebuguzi was voted for winning the Mbarara Rally that was the opening round of the National Rally Championship in Mbarara

Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) on Monday voted the crew of Ronald Ssebuguzi and Leon Ssenyange as the Nile Special-Uganda Sports Press Association sports personality for the month of January.

The scribes voted Ssebuguzi and Ssenyange during their monthly assembly held at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.

Ssebuguzi to win the monthly award polled 310 points defeating athlete Timothy Toroitich who got 280 points and golfer Daniel Baguma (240 points).

Ssebuguzi was voted for winning the Mbarara Rally that was the opening round of the National Rally Championship in Mbarara which attracted all the top crews in the country.

Ssebuguzi was dominant in the race, setting a record of winning all the six sections of the 444.4km event.

Baguma was nominated for winning the annual Onito Memorial Golf Tournament in Jinja while Toroitich was recognized for finishing fourth, third and second in various IAAF cross country meets.

The members also commended boxer Farouk Daku for winning the Africa Boxing Union title in the super welterweight and Lukanga Boxing Club for winning the National Open Boxing Championship.
