FDC supporter crushed to death

A supporter of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has been crushed to death by a moving trailer at Busega roundabout along the Northern Bypass.

The supporter, a bodaboda rider identified only as Kimbugwe was carrying a female supporter as they rode in a convoy of motorcycles ahead of FDC presidential candidate, Dr. Kizza Besigye at about 6.00pm.

Eyewitnesses said the woman, who was dancing on the motorcycle, suddenly pulled the accelerator forcing the rider to lose control and fell in front of an oncoming trailer from Busega, heading towards Bweyogerere.

The truck run over the rider's head, flattenig it in the process. The woman sustained a few injuries and vanished into the crowd.  The Police were not at scene.

The supporters however blocked the road as they attempted to stop motorists to gather the body parts.

Later they stopped a government Pickup truck onto which they threw body and told the driver to take the remains to hospital. The procession then continued.

Besigye is reported to having been moving from Masanafu in Rubaga division where he had a scheduled rally at Nalukolongo Playground.

A bodaboda rider said many riders had volunteered to move with Dr. Besigye at all his rally venues in the city without any allowances.    

The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Patrick Onyango said he had not been informed about the incident.
