Kadaga scoffs at Kyalya

Feb 10, 2016

"Kyalya does not dictate my political timetable. She is not my mentor, she is not my master. I don't have to be pushed by Kyalya or anyone else (to declare my presidential bid)," Kadaga told New Vision.

The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, lashed out at independent presidential candidate Maureen Kyalya for saying she would not have declared her bid if the Kamuli Woman MP had 'not shied away' from the presidential race.

"Kyalya does not dictate my political timetable. She is not my mentor, she is not my master. I don't have to be pushed by Kyalya or anyone else (to declare my presidential bid)," Kadaga told New Vision.

Kadaga, who is the National Resistance Movement (NRM) second vice chairperson, stressed that "you don't just jump into something because people want it, you organize".

"Now she is there, who is funding her? I haven't even seen her presidential posters anywhere. The campaign costs money. It's not a question of saying era ndi wano (still I am here)," she added.
