Museveni to lay foundation stone for Sheikhs' institute

Hajj Muhammad Kisambira, the former secretary general for the office of the Supreme Mufti, who is part of the organizing committee, said Museveni is expected to arrive at 10a.m.



President Yoweri Museveni is expected to lay a foundation stone for the construction of National Institute of Sheikhs and Imams in Nagalama, Mukono district on Friday.

Hajj Muhammad Kisambira, the former secretary general for the office of the Supreme Mufti, who is part of the organizing committee, said Museveni is expected to arrive at 10a.m.

"He has confirmed that he will lay a foundation stone for this institution that was founded by Muslim World League-Uganda office in conjunction with National Assembly for Imams and Duat," Kisambira told New Vision on Wednesday.

He said the institution will train Sheikhs of Uganda and propagators of Islam.

"It will cost around $12m and will be built on 32 acres of land. This institution is for all Muslims whether from Old Kampala or Kibuli," he added.
