The LCI officials have been accused of fueling land conflicts and land grabbing in Kasangati, Nangabo division, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district.

Hajira Namagagwe, the deputy Resident District Commissioner for Kasangati, said you find one plot sold to more than four people with documents signed and stamped by the same LC officials.

"I have realized that chairpersons and their executive members have multiple stamps and many approve transactions which have already been approved by others aiming at getting some money," she noted.

She made the revelation while marking 30-years of National Resistance Movement (NRM) in power at Namulonge playground, in Wakiso district.

Namagagwe stressed that this has led to land grabbing and unnecessary evictions in the area. "We have many cases of land issues in Kasangati. I am now an RDC for land because of the many cases I have to settle all the time, instead of monitoring government programs," she said.

"Since I came to office I have handled about 500 cases. Others have been settled while others are still before court. Other cases are ruled in the absence of the victims. I urge people to always follow up their cases in court because it is very hard for us to reverse the court decision," she added.

Robert Ssebunya, the area MP (Kyadondo North), said land problems have become a serious issue in the area ever since they got a municipality status.

"More people are purchasing land because of the development in the area. But some people are evicted without compensation. Something needs to be done," he added.

Ssebunya accused the district executive of corruption and failure to deliver services to the people.

"The district has done nothing for the people in the last five years. The roads are still poor and people still cry of poor health services among others," he added.

He noted that it is a shame for people to blame President Yoweri Museveni for not working, when they are doing nothing in their areas. Ssebunya asked people to vote President Museveni and other NRM flag bearers in various positions for better services in Wakiso.

The district RDC, Eng. Ian Kyeyune, said Busukuma is one of the hearts of NRM.

"Many people lost lives at this place to liberate this country from bad leadership. Many youth say history is not important to them anymore, but history helps us to avoid repeating the same mistakes," he said.

Kyeyune asked the gathering to elect the right people who will serve them and also work in unity to maintain peace.

Haj Abdu Kiyimba, the district NRM boss asked the gathering to vote for only candidates on NRM ticket come February 18.

"Avoid independents because they are not NRM and cannot deliver what we want. This time we must take Wakiso back," he said.

The event also attended by officials by district officials, prison and police officials, and religious leaders among others.
