Uganda Athletics Federation's 2016 Olympic Games qualification campaign has been boosted by Mukwano Group extension of their sponsorship to the federation for the fourth year running.

Through their Aqua Sipi brand, Mukwano will offer 450 cartons of water to the federation at 15 athletics events, some of which are going to act as qualifiers for the 2016 Rio Olympics due in August.

Mukwano Human Resource Manager Patience Agaba and Public Relations Liaison Officer Douglas Mazune unveiled the sponsorship to UAF president Dominic Otucet who was in the presence of administrator Timothy Masaba and Coach Ben Okello at UAF offices yesterday.

"We recognize that it is a crucial year in which you are preparing for the Olympics and we would like to extend our best wishes to you. We are happy our Aqua Sipi brand ambassador Stephen Kiprotich will step out to defend his title at the time we have other Ugandan medal prospects in the marathon and other races," Agaba stated.

"We also play a role in efforts to create more champions through the national championships as well as sponsoring the Kiprotich Legacy Camp that nurtures young talent in the Sebei sub-region,"

UAF president Dominic Otucet was grateful for the offer promising the country more medal winners.

"I want to thank Aqua Sipi for marketing both Kiprotich in the country. But we should remember that he is not in isolation as he was nurtured by the UAF; we want to thank you for extending the brand sponsorship to the entire federation," Otuchet said.

"This year we are planning to produce new stars who are also going to excel. We are committed to qualifying up to 18 athletes and we hope to do even better at this year's Olympics," Otucet promised.
