Striker Kyambadde leaves The Saints

The Saints FC have parted ways with striker Fred Kyambadde who was crucial in their promotion to the Uganda premier league.

The 22-year-old forward is now a free agent after completing his contract with the club.

Having inspired the Mukono-based club to top flight football last season, Kyambadde now leaves at a time when the debutants are struggling.

They sit second from the bottom and are 19 points below table leaders KCCA FC who have 29 points mid-season.

Kyambadde joined the club in the 2013/14 season in the FUFA Big League and went on to score 12 goals that helped The Saints finish on top and secure a place in the Azam Premier League.

Previously, he was playing for the Uganda Christian University team which at the time was taking part in the regional league.

 And much earlier than that, the budding striker played for Kyebando FC at Kanyanya in Kampala.

He has proved to be a versatile player who besides being lethal in attack, is also solid in midfield. Last season, he was the top scorer with eight goals in the Uganda Cup.

On his part, Kyambadde says he did not leave the club in bad faith, but was only trying to make sense of his path going forward.

 "I still have a lot to do in the soccer fraternity. I am just inspired to aim higher and higher," he says.
