Retired Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Sam Kawalya has joined Kampala Regional club Kyebando United as head coach.
The club's director, Zimaze Cyrus, told New Vision that Kawalya brings to the club his vast experience.
"He has played at the highest level in Uganda with clubs like SC Villa, Express FC, and also for the Uganda Cranes.
"And with his fairly rich CV we hope he will help us in our struggle for promotion to the Big League," he said.
The Kanyanya-based club failed to make it to the Big League last season after reaching the finals.
With promotion to a higher tier in their sights, the club hopes that Kawalya's arrival will help boost such ambitions.
The former Cranes' goalie replaces Robert Ssekweyama who was sacked after a poor run of results.
The new coach was unveiled to the players on Thursday and starts work on Monday next week at Kanyanya Sports Field.
