Saleh rallies Wakiso on Operation Wealth Creation programme

Saleh rallies Wakiso dans to remain accountable to positive programmes.

Gen. (Rtd) Caleb Akandwanaho alias Salim Saleh, Head of Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) has pledged to support more youth under the operation wealth creation programmes.

Saleh applauded Ugandans for embracing OWC programmes which has positively affected lives of different communities in Uganda.

"You should be organized in groups to receive more farm inputs and have mutual agreements on land issues to avoid jeopardizing the programme," said Saleh.

Saleh was speaking during his t visit to Lugo, Wakiso district to assess the progress of OWC programme in the area.

Saleh advised Ugandans to remain accountable to positive programmes rolled out and concentrate on poverty alleviation through embracing innovative agriculture.

He added that Ugandans should take advantage of agricultural innovations and procure machinery to make work easier. This, he believes will help encourage agricultural mechanization which can tackle poverty in different communities.

His statement comes at a time he commissioned the Makerere University Research tractor code named MV Mulimi at Kabanyolo.  

Rosemary Seninde, Woman Member of Parliament (MP) for Wakiso district advised all residents to lay stronger strategies through embracing agriculture to fight poverty.

Seninde advised residents to mutually address land wrangles in the district through proper legal measures and put into good use the OWC programmes.

She advised youths to remain in organized entrepreneurial groups with proper leadership structure to get quicker help from government. This, she said will help them get self-sustaining projects to reduce the question of unemployment.

Moses Nsubuga, the area mayor challenged leaders to encourage youths embrace income generation activities, without politicizing developments.

"Let us focus on appreciating our progress as a nation and develop together as one without any form of division," said Nsubuga

Youths speak out

Richard Kyeyune, a youth representative was optimistic that with support more youths will embrace self-sustaining projects which will help bridge the unemployment gap.
