Journalists tipped on saving culture

Gulu - Journalists in Northern Uganda under the Umbrella, Northern Uganda Media Club (NUMEC) have been told to learn culture of saving on the little salary that they get at the end of every month.

GULU - Journalists in Northern Uganda under the Umbrella body, Northern Uganda Media Club (NUMEC) have been told to learn to save.

The former Resident District Commissioner Gulu, Catherine Lamwaka, advised the journalists on Saturday during the annual general meeting organized by Kacel Watwero Media Saving Group at in Gulu town.

“If you want your future to be bright, you should save the little money to enable you plan well for your life,” Lamwaka said.

Lamwaka said journalists are neglected in all government programs thinking that they are better off.

“You must be in groups if you want government to support your activities and identify what you want to do as a group. I will support you by lobbying for assistance from government,” Lamwaka pledged.

She told journalists to stop being lazy and advised them to start small business.

Lamwaka also advised journalists to be self- reliance and focus on what they do daily, and write what can bring peace in the society.

The NUMEC president, Moses Odokonyero, said journalists in Northern Uganda are very committed.

“We are under one umbrella of NUMEC dedicated to bring peace, promote good governance, democracy with transparency on accountability to the people that we serve in Acholi sub region and remain holistic” Odokonyero said.

Odokonyero urged Journalists who are not yet members of Kacel Watwero Media Saving Group to join the group to start the culture of saving money and avoid too much spending .
