Ronald Rugumayo maintained his lead after day-two of the Rwanda Open at Kigali Golf Club on Thursday.

The scratch player from Toro Club despite carding six-over-par 78 gross is still top of the field going into the third round of the annual tournament.

Rugumayo who is part of team Uganda that is in Kigali to defend the East African Challenge due November 17-21 is two strokes ahead of Rwandan golfer Leonard Nkurunziza.

Rugumayo holds a three-stroke lead over team mates Robert Oluba and Ronald Otile who are tied in third place on 155 gross each after 36 holes.

Rwandan golfer Afrodis Nyirikwaya and another Ugandan Happy Robert are also tied in fourth place on 156 each.

Jonh Baptiste Hakizimana who led  the professional category with 72 on day-one slipped to second place with Emmnauel Ruterana taking over leadership after the second round of the four-round contest.
