Paying the price for a modest regular season, TigerHead Power and the StarTimes Falcons will meet in the first round of the National Basketball League (NBL) playoffs, tipping off this Friday at the YMCA.

The two most successful clubs in national men’s basketball, with a combined 11 titles, clash in a best of three series that is the highlight of the playoffs quarterfinals, which promise little surprises.

While the KIU Titans - Stanbic Warriors series looks appetising, Hamza Nyambogo’s team will fancy their chances of eliminating the two-time former champions, who are loaded with postseason experience but have lost the punch of contender.

Two-time reigning champions MCity Oilers look destined for a clean sweep over the Ndejje Angels while the UCU Canons should similarly pound Our Saviour in a seemingly one-sided matchup.

The women’s quarterfinal series promise to be even less competitive with reigning champions KCCA Leopards and the UCU Canons assured of some embarrassing victories against the Amazon Rhinos and Gladiators respectively.

A1 Challenge will be favourites against the Magic Stormers but the latter have a spoiler’s chance while the KIU Rangers and Nkumba Marines series looks the most evenlymatched series.
