CHAN Second leg
Today, 8pm
Sudan v Uganda
(Uganda lead 2-0)
Uganda Cranes will look to Farouk Miya, Muzamir Mutyaba and Caesar Okhuti for inspiration when they take on Sudan today in the return leg of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) at Khartoum stadium.
The trio has been one of Cranes’ key weapons. Miya scored Uganda’s second goal while Caesar Okhuti created the assist
for Frank Kalanda’s opener in the first leg.
However Mutyaba is one of the creativity forces in the Cranes midfield. This has left assistant captain Ivan Ntege optimistic that his side will make it.
Uganda Cranes take on Sudan Sunday evening. They head into the tie with a 2-0 goal advantage
“The team is prepared and ready to battle the opponents. We don’t have any pressure whatsoever. I want to assure
our fans that we have gone to win,” Ntege stated.
Cranes won the first leg 2-0 last week at Nakivubo stadium. An 18-man squad left the country on Friday evening aboard Ethiopian Airlines.
The winner over the two legs qualifies for the CHAN finals to be hosted by Rwanda next year. Uganda eliminated Tanzania 4-1 on aggregate in the previous round in July.
The African Nations Championship is a biennial football tournament organized by the Confederation of African
Football (CAF) exclusively featuring home-based players.
The fourth edition of the event will be hosted from January 16 to February 7.
Probable lineup:
James Alitho , Denis Okot, Joseph Ochaya, Ibrahim Kiyemba, Sha k Bakaki, Ivan Ntege, Ceaser Okuti, Muzamiru Mutyaba, Farouk Miya (Captain), Frank Kalanda, Keziron Kizito.
