Veteran Kadongo Kamu singer Mamuli Katumba needs 12,000USD (sh44.4m) for an urgent kidney transplant in India, his promoter, Tony Ssempijja has said.
Katumba who came to Bukedde TV studios using a walking stick has been bedridden for some time after he was rushed to hospital with a kidney complication.
Ssempijja, the coordinator of the Uganda Music promoters and Venue Owners Network said Katumba would be flown out of the country as soon as they secured the funds.

He is still undergoing treatment at Mulago Hospital as an outpatient.
He said after failing to raise the money, the network had decided to organize a charity walk slated for Sunday October 18.
Participants will walk from the National Theatre to Gaba Beach for a concert where Katumba and other artists will perform and launch a fund for all artists.
According to Ssempijja, VIPs including the Speaker of Parliament, members of parliament, corporates, religious leaders will take part, each paying shs50,000.

Celebrities will pay shs20,000 and the rest of the general public will pay shs10,000.
Katumba recently recorded a song, Nsiibudde in which he appeals for forgiveness from his fans and God for his wrongs.
Ssempijja said he was optimistic that they would be able to raise the required money for Katumba's treatment abroad and save the other funds for other artists who may need help.
