National swimmer Tendo Mukalazi is among 25 Dolphins swimmers that are set to compete at the Kenya National Age Group and Open Swimming Championships in Mombasa, October 23-26.

After representing Uganda at the Africa Junior Championship in Egypt, October 17-20, alongside Rebecca Ssengonzi, Katrina Ssangalyambogo, Nabil Saleh, Fadhl Saleh and Jesse Ssengonzi, Mukalazi will immediately fly to Mombasa to team up with the Dolphins.

The Dolphins on Saturday got a timely boost for the trip when Harris International the manufacturers of Riham presented a sh3m cheque to facilitate the team to the annual event.

Managing Director Andrews Ruben presented the cheque to the Dolphins Club Chairman Samuel Kalule during their morning work-out at the Aga Khan swimming pool in Kololo.

"We chose to be part of their growth since 2001 that why we have given them this money on top of the earlier we normally give them in May for the Nairobi championship; we would like to see the kids develop their talent and represent the country in such events," Ruben said.

The sponsorship is on top of sh15m the club received from Airtel for the same competition.

The Club is sending a strong and experienced team of swimmers that include Selina Katumba who was the best girl at last year's same event.

Others are Arnold Kisulo, Siegfred Katumwa, Rapahael Sine, Kirabo Namutebi, Adnan Kabuye, Kyla Mpiima and Ben Kaganda among others for the competition for the ten years and above swimmers.

Most of the swimmers competed in the recently concluded Excel Independence Swimming Championships and all have the qualifying times for the event.
