As volleyball teams head to Mukono for the 2015 Uganda Christian University (UCU) Open championships, Sky VC, Nkumba, KAVC and Sport-S remain the biggest contenders for the 11th edition of the competition.

Nemostars men VC, who won the ninth edition in 2013, will be out to try to salvage themselves from a string of losses lately. But they have done little in terms of regularising training to give them a competitive edge over their challengers.

Most of their players still battle with work schedules which do not favour their training programme.

In the women’s category Vision Volleyball Camp remains better placed ahead of KAVC, Ndejje, Nkumba and Sport-S as they have not lost to any of the local team this season.

Sky VC are the defending champions for the men, while VVC hold the women’s title. By press time the organising committee had not released the fixtures for the two day event.
