Top seed Alfred ‘Black Sheep’ Gumikiriza has quit giants Samona Pool Club in a dramatic move that could jeopardise the league champions title defence.

The USPA Pool Player of the year 2014 said his decision to throw in the towel is a result of poor management of the club.

“As a team captain, I cannot continue to lead the club under poor management. The welfare of players is very poor because of lack of facilitation,” he said.

“I am a professional player. I cannot play without money. I would rather do something else where I can earn money. I wish them good luck,” added Gumikiriza.

Gumikiriza, whose contract with the club was due to expire at the end of the year, says he would rather stay out of action till next year.
The exit of Gumikiriza leaves the club in a tight situation in the second round of the league.

Samona Pool Club currently shares the league lead on 36 points with Scrap Buyers. Gals Pool Club follow with 31 points.

Gumikiriza who joined the club early last year was the club and league top scorer.
