UPDF targets musicians, sportsmen in October recruitment

In the upcoming UPDF recruitment, 88 musicians and 50 sportsmen will be enrolled, army spokesperson, Lt. Col. Paddy Ankunda has said.

The recruitment which targets 3000 new soldiers kicks off on October 1 to 14, 2015 in the different parts of the country.

The exercise is aimed at boosting infantry and specialized units of the defense force, Captain Micheal Minjo UPDF spokesperson third division said.

Applicants should present originals of the required documents and should be ready to take some drills during the day of recruitment.

“Applicants should present national IDs to confirm that they are Ugandan citizens,” Minjo said.

He noted that in Eastern Uganda the exercise will be launched from Kabong district in Karamoja region targeting both men and women aged between 18 to 25 years for infantry and specialized units while professionals will be of ages 18-30 for professionals’ recruitment.

Applicants should present O level certificates and must have passed science subjects.
