A one-time former Uganda Cranes manager, Christopher Mubiru Kisingiri has been jailed for 10-years for sodomising a 17-year-old boy.

Delivering the sentence on Friday, the Buganda Road Court Chief Magistrate Flavia Nabakooza also ordered Mubiru to pay the victim sh50m in compensation.

Mubiru, also the former Sports Club Villa manager was last week found guilty of having carnal knowledge with a juvenile against the order of nature.

"Considering the submissions of the defence that you're a  first offender and sole bread winner for your family and having heard from the victim,  I sentence you to 10 years instead of life imprisonment," the magistrate ruled.

Nabakooza also said that the evidence adduced to court by the five prosecution witnesses proved that Mubiru committed the crime.

The court heard that Mubiru in December 2009, while at Mengo Kisingiri LCI in Rubaga division, a Kampala suburb had a sexual relation with Nyanzi against the order of nature, an offence contrary to section 145(a) of Penal Code Act.
