Javelin: Lucy Aber 4th
Women's 400m final: Leni Shida 6th
Table tennis mixed doubles: Algeria 3 – 0 Uganda
Lucy Aber's best effort was good enough for third place. But her second best throw failed to clinch the bronze medal in the women's javelin.
Just like that, Uganda missed out on a fourth medal at the 2015 All Africa Games, Monday in Brazzaville.
Aber tied with South Africa's Ane Van Dyk with 50.52 for the third-best throw in the javelin final. As a tiebreaker, the two athletes' next best throws were taken into account and Van Dyk's 50.04 led her past Aber's 48.61.
"It's very painful," said Aber, who failed to produce a valid effort with her sixth and final throw.
"I could see (Van Dyk) was worried because she knew I could throw a better one but it just didn't happen."
The gold went to Nigeria's Kelechi Nwanaga (52.70) while Ghana's Zutal Mery claimed silver (50.93).
Like Aber, Uganda's Leni Shida missed out on a medal although her sixth place finish in the women's 400m final was not as close to the podium.
"I run faster yesterday (in the semifinal heats)," she said. "I don't know what happened today."
Meanwhile, Uganda's pair of Aminah Lukaaya and Ronald Nyaika lost 3-0 in the mixed doubles of the table tennis competition. The singles are scheduled to start Friday.
