NRM CEC starts vetting aspirants Wednesday

The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) will on Wednesday start vetting aspirants for the party's top positions. This has been revealed by NRM secretary general, Justine Kasule Lumumba.

The Central Executive Committee (CEC) of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) will on Wednesday start vetting aspirants for the party's top positions.


 This has been revealed by NRM secretary general, Justine Kasule Lumumba.

Those to be vetted include aspirants for the position of party chairman, presidential flag-bearer, first national vice-chairperson, second national vice-chairperson, all regional chairpersons and all league chairpersons.

Lumumba said Sunday was the deadline for aspirants to present their curriculum vitaes to CEC, the second highest decision making organ of the party.

"After CEC vetting the aspirants, their names will be forwarded to the National Executive Council (NEC) which will sit on September 19 to also vet and approve the successful aspirants. Then NEC will recommend the aspirants to the National Conference will convene between October 1 and 2 to elect from the chosen aspirants," said Lumumba.

CEC comprises NRM national chairperson, first national vice chairperson, second national vice chairperson, secretary general, national treasurer, deputy secretary general, deputy national treasurer, NRM chief whip and regional and league chairpersons.
