Uganda Cranes head coach Micho Sredejovic is suspicious about a possible infiltration into his intended squad by Sudanese agents ahead of their last stage of the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier matches next month.
Speaking to New Vision online on Wednesday, Micho fears that Sudanese football officials have recently been in touch with Cranes home based players and club officials in a bid to understand who he is likely to summon for the crucial home and away fixtures.
"I know Sudan already have officials and agents here to feed them with information on who we will use and their strong and weak points in play. I only appeal to Ugandans to ignore them and love their country instead of betraying it," Micho pleaded.
Uganda's home based players face Sudan in the last round of the qualifiers on September 17th in Kampala and September 24th in Khartoum. The winner of the two legs will advance for the 2016 CHAN finals due in Rwanda next year.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni last week offered FUFA $210,000 (over sh700m) for the senior Uganda Cranes team to travel and play Comoros away.
Micho hopes to use the Cranes Na-Mutima Regional Tour in Masindi to widen the pool of home based players for their engagement against Sudan.
The Uganda Cranes pool of home based players resume training in Kampala on Saturday and Micho said that he needs at least three players per position as he widens the number of players for national duty.
