Seals Swim Club’s Nuwa Senkebe, Anthea Mudanye, Mercedes Mwebeiha, Alexis Kituuka and Hannah Kyanda get another opportunity to extend their lead as the third Seals League Meet splashes off at Kampala Parents School swimming pool on Saturday.

Senkebe leads the 15 and over boys’ category with 70 points while Louis Wolimbwa (41pts) and Makerere University’s Ronald Ssegwanyi (36pts) are second and third respectively.

In the girls’ category 20-year old Avice Meya is also still top on 60 points with Jamila Lunkuse in second place on 28 points.

Lunkuse a class apart

In the last meet, Olympian Lunkuse was a class apart in this category as she easily won all her heats, displacing International School of Uganda’s Standen Isabelle to third place on 26 points on the log.

Altona Swim Club’s Shiminah Kulabako closely follows on 16 points.

Fourteen-year-old Anthea Mudanye (74pts) leads the 13- 14 year olds alongside Katrina Ssangalyambogo (55points) and Nicole Lutalo (36pts). Mercedes Mwebeiha leads the 11-12 years old category on 71 points with Chiara Kagugube Nansamba (42pts) and Ssinzi Nabatanzi (29pts) third. Alexis Kituuka (58pts), Anne Ingabire (32pts) and Daya Mpeera (23pts) are the leaders in the 9-10 year olds, though the entry of Dolphins Kirabo Namutebi in this category opens it up going into the remaining two league meets.

Hannah Kyanda (24pts), Ssanyu Kagugube Nambeguya (23pts) and Isabel Angemi (16pts) are the leaders in the 8 and under category.

In the boys’ 13-14 year category, Seals’ Alvin Emitu (53pts) and Mackay Ssempa’s (44pts) are still top while in the 11-12 category Mark Wandera (33pts) and Julian Mpyisi Kwezi’s leadership is under threat from Dolphins’ Adnan Kabuye who collected 31 points on the day.

Francesco Kagugube (43pts) and Aaron Emitu (31pts) are top in the 9-10 category though the entry of Dolphins’ Raphael Sine opens up competition in the next league meets, just like John Kafumbe’s (33.5pts) is under threat from Altona Swim Club’s Abba Mayanja (24pts).

Rivalry from Dolphins Dolphins swimmers Arnold Kisulo, Selina Katumba, Kirabo Namutebi are expected to spice up the competition if they compete, just like they did in the second round.

The newly introduced swim league format will have the top swimmers in each age category crowned at an awards gala at the end of the year.
