19-year-old Akurut Pauline from Teso Region was Friday evening crowned Miss Tourism 2015 at Serena Hotel.

19-year-old Akurut Pauline from Teso Region was Friday evening crowned Miss Tourism 2015 at Serena Hotel.


It was a glitz and glamour affair with a red carpet setup. People turned up in impressive numbers.

The show kicked off at about 8pm with a band serenading the audience before the emcees of the evening, Roger Mugisha and Flavia Tumusiime officially started what would turn out to be an exciting 6-hour ride.



After a grueling yet exciting journey, Akurut Pauline was crowned Miss Tourism 2015 beating off competition from 21 other girls that had made it to the finale.

A section of the audience roared in disbelief upon the announcement as others shot their hands up in celebration.

The 22 finalists showcased cultural wear and creative wear before eliminating 12.



 

The remaining 10 went through a maze of questions and scrutiny from the judges. Some of the contestants answered the questions with crisp confidence as others struggled to impress.

Thereafter, there was a bit of an error from the judges who had mistakenly announced the top 5 winners.



The girls furthermore underwent a set of questions where Akurut Pauline was announced Miss Tourism 2015.

Miss Tourism Ankole, Sheila Kirabo was 2nd Runner Up and Miss Tourism Karamoja, Nyangan Karen was 1st Runner Up.

The highlight of the evening was when a blind 20-year-old girl, Bahati Aisha was crowned Miss Tourism Independent.
She had various talents including hairstyling which she did on stage, styling Flavia Tumusiime’s hair.

She beat off competition from Joan Namubiru who chose to showcase her dancing skills. They were rewarded with shs 200,000 each with gift hampers from Radiant, who were the platinum sponsors of this year’s pageant
