Kenya asserted their supremacy in the East Africa Military Games cross country race in Jinja on Wednesday.

The champions dominated in the men’s and women’s categories as Uganda finished second in the team event at the Mayor’s Gardens.

Kenya registered a 1-2- 3-4 finish with Perin Nengampi and Geoffrey Kirui winning in the men’s and women’s races.

The Kenyans scored an aggregate of 10 points in each category.

Uganda followed with 30 and 22 points in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.

Adero Nyakisi and Ezekel Kipron were Uganda’s best runners in fifth place in each category.

Kenyan coach Wilbert Talel was the happiest man after the race.

“At first, I was worried. I thought our opponents had changed tactics. But I am happy that we won,” said the 2013 world cross country silver medallist.

The 11-day Games that started on Sunday will continue with soccer, basketball, handball and netball on Thursday.
