The newly appointed Masaka Resident District Commissioner, Linos Ngompek has called upon men in the district to do family planning to control population growth.

Masaka Resident District Commissioner, Linos Ngompek, has called upon men in the district to embrace family planning to control population growth.
This after the RDC learnt that there are over 40 deliveries per day in Masaka regional referral Hospital.
“The men should break a bit, these are too many birth daily,” he said.
He was speaking during a handover ceremony of a construction site for the hospital complex to cater for children and women in Masaka district.
According to the hospital director, Florence Tugumusirize, the facility delivers more than 40 children per day while admitting over 100 expectant mothers daily.
Ngompek appealed to the residents especially pregnant women to always seek medical help from the recognized government health facilities and not putting too much hope in the traditional birth attendants (TBAs).
He also warned the residents against stealing the property at the site.

“In Uganda there are so many thieves but this time I will not allow them to steal the contractor’s equipment. I will deploy security officers to protect them,” Ngompek said.
The contractor was awarded a sh10.6b to build the modern hospital for children and men.
The Masaka municipality Mayor, Godfrey Kayemba, appealed to the district leadership to sensitize the community to take the advantage of the new facility when completed instead of seeking medical help from the national referral Hospital Mulago.
The Mayor asked the contractor to complete the modern hospital before 2016 general elections.
“Work must be of quality and don’t divert from the specification you are given and you should complete the work before 2016 because the year is important for us (district leaders),” Kayemba said.
Jamil Miwanda, the Masaka LC5 vice chairperson appealed to the contractor to employ the locals in the district.
He also underscored the need for pregnant women to use health facility instead of giving birth with the help of TBAs
