Gulu University and Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) have extended their respective deadlines for applications for consideration for admission under the private sponsorship scheme.

MUST has extended her deadline for private admissions from May 30 to June 13, while Gulu’s new deadline for private admission is June 20, farther from May 30. The extensions are attributed to poor turn up for applications at the two public universities.

Mahmood Khalid, the Gulu University spokesman said the institution made the decision to extend the deadline after their first call for private admissions did not receive the predicted response by May 30.

Khalid said Gulu will admit between 2,000 and 2,500 students under the private sponsorship scheme.

Efforts to reach MUST publicist Denis Lukaaya were futile as his phone was switched-off. However, a source at the university said the extension was made because MUST realized that many students were not aware that the institution had opened private admissions.

Applications for admission under the private sponsorship scheme at MUST costs non-refundable fees of sh27, 500 for Ugandans. Gulu charges non-refundable fee of sh50, 000 for Ugandans as fees for applying under the private admission scheme.

Application forms for MUST can be obtained from and returned to the main campus in Mbarara or their liaison office, Room 407 main building, Makerere University Kampala.

Application forms for Gulu University can be obtained from and returned to their main campus in Gulu, their branches in Kitgum and Lira and their coordination office at UMA show grounds in Lugogo, Kampala.
