COL. Emmanuel Kanyesigye has been appointed new commandant for Makindye Military barracks replacing Lt. Col. Abel Kandiho who has been appointed his deputy.

General Leopold Kyanda, Chief of Staff, Land Forces who presided over the ceremony at Military headquarters in Makindye on Thursday called for unity, headwork and teamwork as the only way to achieve success.

“Distance yourselves from corrupt tendencies and concentrate on your core duties to maintain peace and stability in the country. Kampala and surrounding areas are increasing becoming challenge to security due to rampant riots and other criminal acts,” said Kyanda.

He called upon the Military police personnel to be exemplary in character so that other security agencies can learn from them.

However the new commandant Col. Kanyesigye advised his subordinates not to abandon the families because of busy schedules in the army.

“I only need moral your support as this appointment requires teamwork and ensuring that you abide by the military norms,” said Kanyesigye.
