ATHLETES Joshua Cheptegei and Winnie Nanyondo are joint Nile Special USPA Sports Personality for the month of March.

This recognition from sports scribes under their USPA umbrella is for their gold medals winning feats at the FISU World University Cross country Championships in Entebbe on March 22.

Athletes Joshua Cheptegei and Winnie Nanyondo collected 465 points to emerge ahead of NIC netball team (370 points) and kick-boxer Moses Golola (320 points) who came second and third in that order.

Nanyondo (20:33.77), Dorcus Ajok (21:01.85) and Prim Twikiriza (21:06.14) secured a 1-2-3 Uganda medal podium finish in the women’s 6km race while Cheptegei won the men’s 10.5 km in 31:06.71 beating Kenyans.

National Insurance Corporation (NIC) contested the Nile Special USPA sports personality for retaining the East Africa Netball Club Championships title in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.

NIC overcame Tanzania’s army side JKU netball club 47-30 to win their 13th title in a row.

Kick-boxer Moses Golola made the shortlist for the accolade after beating Ronald Mugula to win a non-title fight at Freedom City in Kampala.

During the Nile Special sponsored USPA monthly assembly, Uganda Olympic Committee president William Blick and veteran UOC administrator Gabriel Oloka also took the scribes through how the committee operates.
