Jamaican dance-hall singer Demarco will headline this year’s street jam organized annually by Club Silk on First Street, Kampala. The event will take place on May 5.

The singer, born Collin Demar Edwards, will be here to perform for the second time and for his currently hitting collabo with Uganda’s Peter Miles on the song “Blessings,” the organisers feel the timing is right to have him grace the street jam.

The event will have a star-studded line-up of over 17 local artistes like Jose Chameleone, Peter Miles, Irene Ntale, Navio and host of others who, according to Silk event’s Moses Opolot, have confirmed to be a part of the singing cast.

Club Music representative, Francis Kirabira, said at the launch that Demarco’s presence will prove to all dancehall fans that he is not a failure as a singer.

“We all know his first performance in Uganda didn’t go well and that came up in our discussions but dancehall fans know very well Demarco as an artist is not a failure. His songs still hit in clubs here.”

The Jamaican is famed for songs like I Love My Life, Innah Yuh Hand, Sort Dem Out and We Miss You. He also did a collabo with Peter Miles, Blessings, a club banger that hit Kampala airwaves last May.

Last year, complaints were that Mr. Vegas, the main performer, cut short his songs during his performances and when asked whether Demarco promises not to follow the same sin, Kirabira said they will ensure Demarco performs his songs to the fans’ satisfaction.

There will be deejay spinoffs and a cast of five emcees to grace the event sponsored by Club Music and Coca Cola amongst others.
