The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Diaspora League has backed a resolution by the NRM Parliamentary caucus to endorse the national chairman of the NRM as the ruling party’s flagbearer for the 2016 general elections.
In a general diaspora meeting held in London at President’s Hotel in Russell Square Wednesday, the assembly adopted several resolutions which included supporting a fifth term for President Yoweri Museveni.
The meeting which was chaired by Patrick Asiimwe, the chairman NRM UK and Ireland was attended by various global NRM representatives.
In a statement issued by the assembly, the secretary general of the NRM diaspora league Peter Mashate said president Museveni had created a stable environment which has culminated into rapid economic development in Uganda.
According to the statement, the NRM diaspora league chairman Abbey Walusimbi sent a message to NRM leadership in Uganda agreeing to the resolution endorsing Museveni as NRM’s candidate in the next presidential elections.
