Seya wins custody battle of Owori love child

Former Kampala Mayor Al Hajji Nasser Ntege Ssebaggala aka Seya has won the child custody battle of his love child with Sylvia Owori.

Ssebagala had dragged the former Miss Uganda pageant boss to the Family Court at Nakawa, accusing her of denying him access to their five-year old son.

Court presided over by Grade One magistrate Rose Onyango Jolly on Friday ordered Owori to allow the former mayor to take care of the child as the biological father.

The Court ruled that beginning with second term, the child will be staying with his father (Ssebaggala) and only stay with the mother during holidays. The ruling was conducted in closed chambers.

Journalists and other parties who were not attached to the two warring parties were earlier kicked out of court chambers.

Speaking outside court, Ssebaggala’s lawyer Nelson Walusimbi said Owori had asked for USD2500 (about Shs6.1m) every month but court declined to grant this prayer.

Owori is reported to have demanded sh800m from Seya as costs she had spent on the child from childhood to date.

Besides granting Ssebagala custody of the child, court also ordered that the his names be changed to those Ssebagala wished. Owori had named the child after her Dutch lover Nielson Munk.

Seya will also meet the costs of counseling the child through this period of transition. Owori, who was represented by Carol Nshimirwe from the Association of Women lawyers (FIDA- Uganda) was overheard asserting that she was going to appeal this decision.

Ssebagala is reported to have declined being awarded with costs saying he did not want the mother of his child to suffer.

Owori love woes

Seya, a darling of the media thanks to his English gaffes, met Owori in 2006 when he was elected Kampala Mayor. The love birds got a son in 2008 but have since moved on. Owori went on to meet a new lover, Nielson Munk who started taking care of the boy. She even named him after his new father.

Seya says for long Owori has played hide and seek every time he demanded to see his son, and was further incensed to learn that the boy shared Munk’s name.

Owori however got misunderstandings with Munk after word of her romance with kick boxer Malik Kaliisa did the rounds. The two were always an item on the social scene.

Owori dotted her new lover like a baby and even oversaw his training sessions, wiping off his sweat and feeding him like a bird does her little ones.

She was however left emotionally and psychologically bruised in June 2012 when Titus Tugume floored Malik to retain the National Kickboxing Super Middle weight title.

This is however not the first time Seya is involved in child custody battles. In July 2012, Shamim Balungi dragged him to Makindye Court accusing him of neglecting her and denying her child support for his three children.

Seya  however claimed that he had always told Shamim to give him his children so he could look after them but she refused.
