G4S Pirates face Toyota Buffaloes on Friday at Kyadondo Rugby Club expecting nothing less than victory in the highly billed fixture that will decide the future of the Pirates in Nile Special Premier Rugby Super Six League next season.

G4S Pirates team captain Eric Butime revealed that despite his side’s poor showing in recent games, lessons have been learnt and the players will be out to avoid relegation.

“I know we have got a mountain to climb in order to oust Mutoni Warriors from the sixth position but beating Buffaloes will put us in a comfortable position and play our remaining fixtures with less pressure,” Butime stated.

Butime added that whereas his side is second bottom with 10 points from 10 games on the table, it will win its next matches to beat the drop.

“It’s a tricky season because of the transitional programme, but we will fight hard in the remaining games and avoid relegation,” Butime stated.

“We have young school boys whose discipline has not matured and receive unnecessary cards, but I can assure you that we are not going to be relegated,” Butime stressed.

Pirates (10 points) are 7th in the 8 team league where the bottom two will be relegated to pave way for the new league format of six clubs for the 2014/2015 season.

Mutoni Warriors who are 6th on 14 points also face the threat of relegation and are gunning to stay in the top division after upsetting Ezee Money Rhinos 17-11 last weekend.

Lira Bulls without a point in 10 games are rooted at the bottom of the league while D’Mark Kobs (48points) are 10 clear of defending champions Heathens.

All teams have four games left to the close of the league.
