KYAMBOGO University has rejected reports that outgoing Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Isaiah Omolo Ndiege has officially handed over office to acting VC Associate Prof Fabian Nabugomu.

According to acting Kyambogo University secretary Patrick Madaya, Ndiege has not officially handed over the office of VC, though he has returned university property in his custody.

“He requested more time to produce a handover report. He is yet to officially hand over the office,” Madaya explained on Wednesday.

On January 13 2014, Ndiege wrote to the University, requesting for more time to compile a detailed hand-over report.

Madaya last week on Wednesday wrote to Ndiege, asking him to hand over all university property in custody immediately.

Madaya’s decision to ask Ndiege to return Kyambogo’s property followed the elapse of his (Ndiege) five-year contract on January 11 2014.

Ndiege subsequently complied with the directive, and has since returned the official Kyambogo VC vehicle, University laptop, keys among other things.

In the meantime, the university is being run by Nabugomu, as a substantive office bearer is sought.

Kyambogo University has also appointed Prof Elly Katunguka as the Deputy VC in charge of Academic Affairs.

Elly Katunguka is the head of the Directorate of Research of Graduate Training at Makerere University.
